Unsui (雲水, pronounced oon-soo-ee) is a Japanese Zen Buddhist term meaning "clouds and water."
Clouds drift freely with the wind, adapting to changing conditions without resistance. Water flows around obstacles with grace and resilience, always finding its way forward. Together, they symbolize a life of flexibility, humility, and harmony with nature.
Traditionally, unsui refers to a Zen monk traveling freely without attachment, seeking wisdom and enlightenment. Like clouds and water, the monk moves through life with an open heart and an unburdened spirit.
